No specific meaning. 1st September used to be Teachers' Day in Singapore until they changed it to the 31st August. Also 1st September just means the start of a new month. :)
Cool. And yes, the start of a new month is a glorious thing. Here, it is starting to warm up, and we are having days where sitting in the garden and enjoying the sun can happen for long enough that I'm starting to worry about how long/sunburn.
