Life didn't evolve to jump multiple time-zones in a few hours. It's a problem that goes all the way down to the cellular level.

Fun fact: Even bacteria have Circadian rhythms.
So, if you catch a cold before you fly home, you can take some comfort in the fact that your germs are jet lagged. :P
