I was reluctant to even mention it knowing that you are stressing over your daughter, but my Inner Editor would not shut up. One reason might be that the narrative seems to waver between being a journal and an accounting of events. It is not clear if this is something she Mirra is keeping for herself or setting down for others to use as a guide.
I am finding that I am having the same difficulty at times with Genesis Wars simply because there are things/events that need to be related first person and others that need an overview. Add collaboration into the mix with a second first person giving their viewpoint and it gets very odd at times. Sometimes, especially if I have been away from it for a bit, I have to really 'listen' to hear which viewpoint needs to be foremost for a scene.
