... that, no matter how much I like fandom, there will always be nasty people around.
... that, when I write, I try to do research and not do a complete "white-wash". That's a bleeping cop-out and speaks of a lack of integrity on the part of the writer.
... that, as a writer, I have a responsibility when it comes to the content. Cause and effect, anyone?

That last post of yours -- the science fiction take on a Chinese festival? I want to whack Joss Whedon upside the head for going "ehhh... it's kind of like China in space" because yours beats his six ways to Sunday. And it's much, much more interesting.

Too hot to even lie down and end up drowning in my own perspiration... The joys of living in a tropical country and it has hit the high 30 (degrees celsius). *melts*

As much as I like Firefly, I keep looking for evidence for "China in space". Nope. Only the fact that the characters swear in Mandarin and that's about it. I admit I am a little disappointed. Actually hoped to see more of the Chinese presence. But nadah. Expected more from Joss. I mean, when you create something, you should at least know the effects/consequences. So, they speak in Mandarin and the implications that there is a strong Chinese presence (ala Chung Kuo by David Wingrove) are subtle... but it would be nice to show some Chinese/Asian faces, ya? The same goes for the other forms of storytelling. The writer/creator has to be responsible. And things do not take place in a vacuum.
