Still alive, now working at a school, and pretty much chugging along. There are days I swear I have bounding energy. There are also days I swear I have none, even, to get me out of bed. But work keeps me going.

I need to get back to pagan/spiritual stuff.

Butterflies

It’s been two weeks since my grandmother passed away and the hurt is still here, the sudden flash of memory – and then the flood of hot tears in the eyes.

Butterflies have been appearing ever since. Dad told me about two strange occurrences, one on the day when she was cremated and another on the seventh day of her death. My aunt who had been her caregiver encountered a white butterfly who followed her everywhere she went. When she left the house, the butterfly flew away. Then, on the seventh day, a colorful butterfly fluttered in and lingered on my grandmother’s cupboard until night.

We would like to think that it was my grandmother who had visited us.

Me? A blue butterfly appeared on the day before the cremation. I saw it. My older girl saw it. The blue was dazzling, like shimmering velvet skies. Vivid eye-spots too. But my dad said that grandma had never been to where I live now.

Few hours left for Easter Sunday and soon, it would be April.

I miss ah-ma.

Does this media agency even know the meaning of "No Work On Sunday"? Just received email from director listing a litany of stuff for me to do. The email was also snide and blunt.

I am so glad to be out of the media agency in two weeks' time.

At the moment, I do not like it and I break in cold sweat whenever I get an email from them. And panic, stomach cramps, nausea. Yes, I get anxiety attacks. :(

Slowly pulling through: update

Thank you for your replies and thoughts. I really appreciate them. It's been a week since my grandma had passed away and little things still trigger moments of deep sorrow. I grieve most for my dad who had so tirelessly looked after her in the four months right up until her passing. I saw him crying at the funeral and it tore at me.

I am slowly pulling through, getting back onto my feet.

This month is end of Lent, Easter, Ostara, resurrection and rebirth. So much to learn from it, listen to it. I want my own rebirth, my own rising-up-from-the-ashes, hence my phoenix icon. I identify so much with Phoenix it appears frequently in my stories, in my dreams.

Let this week be a good week.

I am also dealing with people whom I think I should not engage further. Unfortunately, they are part of a media agency I am writing for. Even I have already put in my letter of resignation, they are still acting like smug assholes, without a smidgeon of EQ whatsoever. So I am going to endure these 3 weeks until my last day in April. Hope the school contacts me again.

So, rebirth. I need it.

My grandmother passed away last Saturday. Today (Monday) is the day for prayers and rituals to send her off. Tuesday is the cremation.

I am going to miss her so much.

This Sunday is Yuan Xiao, the 15th day of the Lunar New Year and technically heralding the end of the celebrations. The month is now edging into March.

Help (Redux)

I have to do this again. I am putting out another call for help. As you all know, my cat Meow has diabetes and is now slowly recovering. But our finances are not coping very well with the medications and vet bills - plus the fact that I am currently looking for a job and the economy is not treating the family well, of late. We are basically struggling to make ends meet over here. Of course, I would really like it if I get a job and help pay for everything. (Or if money would just fall from the sky... that would be nice, but miracles are like mirages in the desert)

The stress is pretty much fraying my nerves and eating up my insides (metaphorically). I am starting to dread waking up everyday - but I have to stay positive as much as I could, until I fall over or something.

Meow is in the ICU again. Found him lying on his side, rigid, but still breathing. Vet said that it might be reaction to the new dosage of insulin. But this hospitalization has really put our finances in the red.

EDIT 1: As of now at the time of writing, Meow suffered another seizure and is now sedated. Vet is not optimistic he will pull through. Will have to make that decision tomorrow.

EDIT 2: Haven’t made the decision yet. Meow is apparently “doing better”. Will ask the vet for clarification.

EDIT 3: Meow is apparently well enough to be discharged! The bills however…

Farewell 2012 and hello 2013!

To be honest, I am quite happy to see 2012 go. The year has been filled with ups and downs with the downs dominating the second half of the year.

Writing
Stories were published. Novellas were read. Submissions are - well- submitted. The Ayam Curtain, co-edited with J.Y.Yang, is published. A physical book, dammit!

And Yao Jin in Weird Noir. :)

Life
October, November and December were hardest on my emotions. The family is trying to cope with the issue of cancer. My cat has diabetes and has been in and out of the vet hospital. I think my emotions are frayed and gone to the point of exhaustion.

Finances
Not too pretty at the moment. I hope to get a job. Yes, job hunting, again.
